This is bonus episode number 91, and it's titled Norse mythology, how Thor got his hammer.

Now, I'm confident that you have heard of Thor.

In fact, you speak his name at least once a week, because Thor is the origin of Thor's

day, or, as we say it today, Thursday. Yeah, fun fact. Besides being a day of the week, you probably also know Thor as a superhero.

He first appeared in the Marvel movies in 2011, and he first appeared in the Marvel comic books in 1962, but long before Thor was a Marvel superhero, or a day of the week. He was a North God.

Thor probably first appeared over 1 years ago in Norse mythology.

What you will hear tonight is my whispered adaptation of an ancient Norse tale about Thor getting his hammer. Here are the Norse gods in this story.

And these details can vary slightly depending on your source. But anyway, here they are.

Thor is the god of lightning, thunder, and storms.

Siff is the wife of Thor, who is known for her golden hair.

You'll say she's central to tonight's tale.

Odin is the father of Thor and the ruler of Asgard, which is the home of the gods.

And time for another fun fact.

Odin is also known as Woden, who you celebrate every Woden's Day, or, as we say it today, Wednesday.

The next Norse God is Frey.

He is the god of fertility, harvest, and peace, but not to be confused with Odin's wife, Freya, who actually isn't mentioned

in this story tonight. But I mention Freya because she is also known as Frick, who you also celebrate every Frick's Day, or, as we say today, Friday.

And lastly, the Norse god Loki, is brother of Odin, and he is a prankster god who can change himself into different shapes.
