Ali Valshi. We begin this morning with the path forward for the case against Donald Trump.

We've now had a total of eight public hearings from the January 6th Select Committee.

Over the course of those ground-baking sessions,

congressional investigators have made a case that many now argue can and should be the basis of a criminal investigation.

Through a series of witness testimonies and visuals,

the committee presented evidence that Donald Trump was not only aware of the violence

taking place inside the Capitol, he was counting on it. He was encouraging it through social media

posts, and he refused, please, from his own aides and family members, to put a stop to it

because he was waiting to see if it would be successful in blocking the proper counting of electoral votes that would cement his loss.

According to the testimony provided by the committee from multiple witnesses,

after his incendiary speech at the so-called Stop the Steel rally on January 6th,

after he told his followers to march to the Capitol,

Donald Trump tried to go to the Capitol

himself. He was only prevented from doing so by his own security detail who refused to take

him there. Within 15 minutes of leaving the stage, President Trump knew that the Capitol was besieged

and under attack. At 125, President Trump knew that the Capitol was besieged and under attack.

At 125, President Trump went to the private dining room off the Oval Office.

From 125 until 4 o'clock, the president stayed in his dining room.
