| 1:11.3 | Many, many years ago, Octavia Butler wrote this amazing series called Parable of the Soar. It's really the parable series. It was supposed to be a trilogy. She ended up transitioning to the ancestral realm before the third version or the third installation of the series could be written. But it's Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talent. And these were books that, I believe the first one was written in the mid-1990s, and that first book is set in a future, a dystopian future, 2024, in America, where there is a presidential candidate by the name of Donald Connor, who is running to make America great again. I'm telling you black people are prophetic, because we'd be knowing shit. We'd be knowing shit. But in this future dystopian novel, this series, you have, at least in the second edition of it anyway, in Parable of the Talents, we're still following the story of this loose group of people that came together. They're, again, living in a very dystopic America. There is no such thing as like the United States of America. By this point, all of the individual states are like their own, almost like their own countries. And in the second book, the black, Latino, Asian, poor white people who had gathered together and who are working to try to figure out like what the future is going to look like, all of them could be enslaved. And in fact, were enslaved thanks to the unleashed power of digital surveillance and technology. I mean, I remember |
