Three minutes after ten is the time a very good morning to you, early instructions,

time to crack open the world's smallest violins because O'Brien is about to start whining

about how hard his job is, sort of.

It is one of those days where we have to find a new variation on an old theme because

the question of why are they doing this and then insert whatever the latest policy absurdity

may be into that available space or why haven't they done it sooner? Ditto, insert latest policy

absurdity or what exactly is the problem with why? And then people ring in and tell me why

they do feel that masks or passports or

whatever it may be are an appalling infringement of their civil liberties, despite having

stayed silent while this government abolished their actual and littoral freedom of movement.

Never mind the legislation with regard to public protests that is still bubbling away.

But face masks, public transport, Boris Johnson, Sadiq Khan, give it a bit of a shake and see if you can come up with a new formula.

I am troubled slightly by the idea of the Prime Minister being so brazenly cowardly and refusing to face down face-mark freaks on his own back benches.

But obviously being cognizant of the fact that the public health and safety does depend in part upon people continuing to wear them on public transport.

I do not understand.

And this is what I mean,

about the world's smallest violins,

that we can't repeat verbatim the questions that we were asking yesterday

and the day before, and last week and last month,

and for most of last year.

But the absolute brazen cowardice of refusing to face down his own freak show while instructing today people like Grant Shaps to go out and endorse what is presumably the scientific advice they're receiving.
