The wheels of justice, in most cases, move at a painfully slow pace, especially after a conviction.

Successful appeals oftentimes take decades to work through the court system,

but when your life is on the line, there never seems to be enough time.

That's the position that a Texas man named Ivan Cantu finds himself in.

He's on death row, and every day that passes by is one closer to the day that he'll be executed.

Ivan was convicted and sentenced to death in 2001.

For the murders of his cousin James Muscada and James's fiance, Amy Kitchen.

James and Amy were found murdered in their home on November 4, 2000.

During the initial investigation, it appeared to police that Ivan had handed them their case on a

silver platter, showing off a ring that was stolen during the murders, placing his bloody pants and

socks right on top of a trash can in his own apartment, and even parking the victim's car right

outside his own door for police to find. His conviction was also helped along by the fantastical

testimony of Ivan's own girlfriend Amy Betcher. The case seemed cut and dry on the surface,

but as we all know, things are not always what they seem. This is episode two of season nine.
