| 0:00.0 | The cycling podcast powered by SuperSapiens. Energy management for committed athletes and coaches. |
| 0:30.0 | Well those were some of the sounds from Lurven at the weekend in particular the fan zone in the center of Lurven where most fans congregated for the men's road race which was the climax to a week of racing in Flanders at the World Championships. |
| 0:46.0 | And we're going to be talking mainly about that thrilling men's road race in this week's podcast. |
| 0:51.0 | My name's Richard Murr and I'm with Lionel Bernie. |
| 0:53.0 | Hello Richard. |
| 0:55.0 | And Daniel Freib. |
| 0:57.0 | Hello Richard. |
| 0:58.0 | Daniel you were in Lurven with me. |
| 1:02.0 | Were you able to sample much of that incredible atmosphere because where we were in the media zone up by the finish we were a bit detached from the action as it were. |
| 1:12.0 | So were you able to get in amongst the crowds at all? |
| 1:15.0 | Yeah I mean the crowds were extraordinary throughout the time that we were in Lurven a few days that we were in Lurven for the road races even in the morning rich. |
| 1:24.0 | I mean I went for a run I did the whole circuit or pretty much the whole circuit on the run and already then particularly on the one pedest climb the crowds were three or four. |
| 1:33.0 | Deep you know I was getting cheered up there which was quite exciting actually I'm aston May it was quite a it will be quite a memory. |
| 1:43.0 | And then certainly after the race Lurven was still rocking although I think a few people would peaked a little bit too early around about midday as far as the festivities were concerned that was the sense that I got a bit like Remco. |
| 1:59.0 | Yeah well well well down to that I mean Lionel at one point in the race you message me to say do they realize there are 160 kilometres still to race. |
| 2:10.0 | Because it was it was an extraordinary race wasn't it. |
| 2:13.0 | It really was wasn't it I was also asked you the question because I can't remember a world road race championship men's world road race championship that was as good as that for as long. |
| 2:24.0 | I mean it was appointment viewing really from that point onwards wasn't it and arguably before you know there was a good 160 170 kilometres where it was not a race you could take your eyes off. |
| 2:37.0 | And Daniel you suggested that innsbruck was as gripping in a in a different way but this was this was all out racing wasn't it I mean some big riders laid it down very very early on and I asked you the question Richard you know why is this is it because. |
| 2:55.0 | Right now with all of the data they're not quite scared to go four hours out they know what can be sustained they know you know how they can take it on and they're more in tune and you know it's kind of counter intuitive we think that all this data is going to lead to kind of control negative boring racing but perhaps I don't know I'm speculating here but perhaps it's going to lead to the opposite if riders know that their limits are further out than perhaps they thought they were. |
| 3:24.0 | I mean that's how it appeared to me as a race you know no one had any fear the race was starting with 170 to go and that was that. |
| 3:33.0 | I think that's a factor I think also there's a greater emphasis on being on on the front foot and not being forced to chase the race that's probably not new but it's it's taken on a greater significance of think the last in the last couple of years. |
