57 years ago today, the United States learned of a tragedy that rocked the entire world to its foundation.

On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was waving to a massive crowd of spectators from a limousine in the heart of Dallas, Texas, when gunfire erupted.

The first shot seemed to have missed the president.

The security detail escorting his motorcade quickly began scanning the surroundings, trying to figure out where the shot came from, or if it really was a gun shot.

Seconds later a second shot rang out.

This time the crowd seized Kennedy's reach for his throat. He'd been hit.

The first lady, Jackie, leaned over to him to see what was wrong as a third and fatal shot struck JFK in the head, killing him instantly.

The entire assassination was captured on film by onlooker Abraham Subruder.

The film has been analyzed by millions and millions of people over the decades, which has led to a massive number of theories as to who killed JFK.
