I'm coming to you live from a hike through a lush green river valley in Aden.

That's a town in Turkey.

No, not that kind of Turkey.

We're in the country of Turkey.

A land surrounded by the Black Sea to the north and the Mediterranean Sea to the south.

You can find beautiful ancient ruins just about everywhere you go in Turkey.

That's because people have been living here for thousands of years.

And you know what else lives here?

Figs.

That's actually why I came to Aden.

It's the fig capital of Turkey.

And this country grows half the world's figs every year.

That's a lot of fruit.

Mmm, figs.

If you've never eaten a fig, imagine this. A purple fruit shaped kind of like an onion filled with soft raspberry-like insides and tons of tiny crunchy seeds.

And they don't just taste great.

Figs are a superfood. Not just for people, but for animals too. They grow year-round, which means

they're always available, even when other food isn't. All kinds of animals. Birds, bats, bugs,

love figs. Even elephants use their trunks to pick figs right off the tree.

But here's the thing.

Figs can't just grow on their own.
