I'm John Batchel with my good colleague, Thadis Mcotter a former member of Congress from the great state of Michigan,

and I'm asking Thadde is not for a crystal ball, but for historical reference of how parties

adjust to what they learn on primary day for the general election in a midterm election.

This is not a presidential year. The presumption would be on the basis of the

Gallup poll showing historically low numbers for the independence opinion of the economy, historically

low. I mean, lower than the pandemic, lower than the Great Recession of 08, that's what Gallup

is telling us, for8. That's what Gallup is telling us for independence.

How or what can the Republicans do to survive what appears to be between now and

November a retreat from majority rule?

Is there anything can be done or is that every man and woman for themselves, that is?

First, you have to stop lowering the limbo bar, man.

You've just got to stop.

Primaries, because they're all different types of primaries.

It's closed primaries.

There's open primaries.

There's the jungle primary.

Not all states are at the same time. So basically, when you boil it down, John, whether it's a general election

primary or one for a midterm election or any other kind, a partisan primary will show you who has

strength within the party. And so for people

who am watching this today, we will see on the Republican side, as we saw in Texas with the Corman

Paxson vote, we will see mainstream Republicans, establishment Republicans versus the MAGA-type

Republicans, and we'll see who has the energy there. Right now, the careers MAGA still does. On the Democratic side to see traditional establishment Democrats versus

...
