I'm John Batchel. Professor Richard Epstein of the Civitas Institute is here with me to comment on the potential

of a full-out ground war in Iran. The remarks by the president in these last days suggest that

what was not entertained in the early stages of the bombing campaign is now, as Washington

likes to use the metaphor, back on the table.

I read from the Washington Post in these last hours. President Donald Trump's war in Iran

is as unpopular among Americans as the Iraq war during the year of peak violence in 06 and the

Vietnam War in the early 1970s, according to a Washington Post,

ABC News, Ipsos poll, amid growing economic pain, fears of terrorism as a result of the military

campaign.

Professor, we lived through both of those instances, the Iraq War and the Vietnam War.

It tore the country in half Vietnam.

It wrecked a generation in university.

I was there.

There was no getting past the fact that your university years were being dominated by a question you could do nothing about

except protest and drop out.

That was it.

Now, if that comes again, Professor, we're going to wreck the 21st century.

Well, Trump is very much on his way. And let me start not with him, but with the late General

Powell. He said, you can't go half measures into a war. If you go half measures into the war, it takes longer to resolve.

In the meantime, the political pressures become much greater.

And what you do is you're constantly balancing two things, and you're always going to

lose on both fronts.
