However, I go to a name in Mary's new column

that seems to be revelatory of problems.

Hernan Bermudez Ricana,

a Marina, former Secretary of Security

and Citizen Protection in the state of Tabasco, who is now in jail awaiting trial on charges of

kidnapping, criminal association, and extortion. Mary, a very good evening to you, Rickena.

Why is his jailing significant for the questions raised about Marina and its too chummy relationship with organized crime.

Well, first of all, we should start by emphasizing what you said, which is that Bermudas Reckenna

was the secretary for security for the state of Tabasco.

When he was arrested, he was actually found to be in Paraguay. He had fled Mexico, and the Mexicans figured out he was in Paraguay. And rather than

extradite him, the Paraguayan president just expelled him from the country and put him on a plane back to Mexico.

So when he got off the plane, he got arrested. He's in a prison right now in Mexico. He's accused of

these crimes that you just listed and being the alleged leader of a group called the sweeper,

Badalora, in Spanish.

And it's an organized crime group.

And he is alleged to have been the boss of the whole group.
