A conversation with Josh Rogan, the Washington Post.

I learned that the Silicon Valley, men who can control the AI as well as the software,

and of course the machines themselves, think that they are ready for government.

And therein lies a puzzle.

Government is not responsive to the same bottom line. government and therein lies a puzzle.

Government is not responsive to the same bottom line that very much picks and chooses in the marketplace,

the winners and losers at Silicon Valley.

So, technocrats to Washington, puzzling.

Here's Josh.

Yes, not only do they know this, they're warning about this.

They're saying that, you know, we can't hand over our national security strategy to the technology gods. We can't just expect technology to solve all of our problems that we really actually do need, again,

coming from tech guys, this is notable, you know, actual national security professionals,

government to do its job and set the policies. And the tech people can only plug in where

they can plug in. So we can't replace our democracy with a technocracy. We can't replace our

sort of, you know, basic Washington function, which is to, you know, figure out what America's role is going to be in the world.

And then what do we need to do and build and say and who to partner with to get there?

We can't hand that over to the Silicon Valley guys because that's not their skill set, even though some of them may think so.
