Summary

14. Iranian Drone Harassment and Economic Impacts on Arab States GUEST: Bill Roggio, Ahmed Sharari SUMMARY: Ahmed Sharari reports on the daily Iranian drone and missile strikes targeting Arab energy facilities and air bases. These attacks seek to inflict economic damage and pressure these nations to oppose the war.,, Iran is conducting daily strikes against Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Kuwait to increase economic pressure and force these nations to call for an end to the war,. Ahmed Sharari notes that while the volume of attacks has decreased, their accuracy has increased, as evidenced by recent strikes on Prince Sultan Air Base. The persistent threat has caused expatriates to leave Dubai, damaging the region's reputation for stability, while the asymmetric cost of defense makes intercepting $20,000 drones with $3 million missiles unsustainable,. Most recently, tallying up the Arab states that are now the target of the Iranian regime now and again with drones and also now and again missiles.

0:43.1

I read the list.

0:44.6

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, that is not all of them,

0:50.1

but those are surprisingly substantial states to attack as if they were responsible or in some way

0:56.8

participating in the American and Israeli attacks on Iran, which they are not.

1:01.9

So, Ahmed, a very good evening to you.

1:04.7

This happened in the middle of March.

1:07.2

I have no reason to believe it won't continue.

1:10.2

What have we learned? What have the Arab states learned of these attacks? Are they meant to be harassment? Are they meant to be existential risk? If you can't defend this one, what are you going to do when we send a wave after wave of drones? What are the Arab states themselves learn from these attacks?

1:28.2

Good evening to you. Good evening, John. Just to point out that these are, these attacks are

1:33.7

happening on a daily basis against against the Arab states. And what Iran intends or intended to

1:40.5

achieve by targeting the Arab states on day one of the war was to out pressure

1:45.1

on them and inflict maximum damage for these states to go to the to the U.S. and stop this

1:50.9

war. But now we're seeing a change in not the strategy but but but the Iranian tactics

1:58.5

in terms of what they're trying to hit and what they're targeting.

2:02.2

And that's why we're seeing attacks on energy facilities in the Gulf states in order, again,

2:07.4

to increase pressure on these states, especially with the reports on the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

2:13.1

So Iran understands that by targeting the oil facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait, countries that are small and that can be easily, I would say, easily pressured, can get them a long way in terms of creating a front that is anti-war, or at least against the continuation of the war against Iran.

2:35.8

But it can also have, I mean, this can also blow back against Iranians and create a hardened front against them.

2:42.1

Although, I mean, the war has been going on for a month and two days,
