This is John Batchel, a conversation with my colleague and friend, Jeff Bliss, on assignment in downtown in Las Vegas.

Well, no, the strip in Las Vegas. Downtown is separate, I learned from Jeff.

Clark County, Las Vegas, downtown Las Vegas, and the strip where all the big casinos are.

Plus the baseball stadium's coming., plus in-and-out

burger is coming, lots of activity in Las Vegas.

And Jeff did me the favor of pointing out the skyline as he turned around and around on this

very famous roadway, where in the summertime you don't want to walk because it's so hot.

There's robo-taxaxies coming to. Jeff Bliss on

downtown Las Vegas and that's different from where he is on the very famous strip. Much more

of this tonight. Thank you. That would be, so this is all Clark County still. And Clark County is an interesting

animal. It kind of operates as a state within the state. It's where the major airport is. It's where

the strip is. But if you go over my shoulder down the road, probably about four miles or so,

is where you get to, you know, Fremont Street in the old downtown Vegas,

the old hotel casinos, some of which have been there since, you know,

the early 1900s.

This used to be just a dusty stop for, you know, the military and for cowboys and others.

And then it blew up, like I said, mostly because of what a few gangsters from outside of Nevada decided

when they first built the flamingo, which is behind me.
