I'm John Batchler. I welcome my colleagues, Mariam Waba, research analyst at the FD, as long as, as well as

Natalie Econo, a senior research analyst at FD, looking at two stories that are pertinent to the crisis

in the Gulf right now, in the global markets, and certainly going forward affecting all aspects of what Europe

characterizes as the wider war. It's here. These items, however, require some attention

to detail. So I welcome Mariam and Natalie to understand their weight. Mariam, I begin with you

because this is about an organization I know very little about

other than it meets in Doha, Qatar, where I've been once upon a time, a magical place.

I was there doing a crescent moon over the Gulf, and so to combine that picture with the towers

of Doha, but there also lives the International Union of Muslim

scholars, which you characterize as a global network of Sunni clerics. What is it? What is its weight?

Why is it in Doha? Good evening to you, Mary. Good evening, sir. Good to be with you again. You are right on the money. The International

Union of Muslim Scholars or the IUMS is a global network of Sunni clerics, Sunni scholars, as they

describe themselves, that is headquartered and operates out of Doha, Qatar. And this organization, as you rightfully noted,

is a little ominous, not very much as known about it, but we can begin to extract some of

its more fine details from the clerics or the scholars associated with it. And if you do a

quick scan of some of the clerics and scholars associated with the organizations,

you quickly come to realize that this is a Muslim Brotherhood aligned organization. It carries

Islamist ideology and its goal through its statements and through the work of its scholars

is an attempt to spread that Islamist ideology, not just in the Gulf, but across the Middle East

and across the world. The Muslim Brotherhood. Natalie, I ask you to help me understand, because the

Muslim Brotherhood over the years has been characterized to me as multifaceted. Another way to put this,
