And so before we get into episode three of the Patricia Rournerys, I wanted to share an interesting story out of Alabama that bears upon a couple of the cases we've covered, including one recent one.

These are cases out of Alabama.

And so, Rabia, we obviously covered the case of Rocky Myers and recently used spearheaded our coverage of Charles Sonny Burton.

Both men on death row in Alabama. Both of them had their death sentences commuted,

but both of them faced the prospect of being executed by nitrogen gas in Alabama.

Well, last night, there was a third man, Jeffrey Lee, who is scheduled to be executed in Alabama by nitrogen gas,

and he brought a constitutional challenge under the Eighth Amendment,

claiming this was cruel and unusual punishment.

And late last night, a district court judge in Alabama agreed.

That judge found the use of nitrogen gas and execution, quote,

likely leads to severe air hunger and corresponding emotional distress, anxiety,

physiological stress, and physical discomfort for at least one to three minutes before there's
