What is it that Xi Jinping wants from this meeting with Donald Trump and vice versa,

given the adversarial relationship between Canada, the United States, between the United States and China, and I don't

think there's an adversarial relationship between China and Canada, but I can be corrected.

Good evening. Well, I think that certainly the Chinese are unhappy

about changing the date, because the way that they try and depict it is that, you know, Xi Jinping

as the emperor has graciously conceded that the foreign barbarian can come to Beijing and be given great honor and present gifts to the

Chinese leadership and receive some gifts back. So when you change the date, it suggests that

the Chinese were not fully in control of this event. But I mean, that being said, I mean, clearly the idea that Mr. Trump should go to China

and engage in a ritual event, you know, the greeting in the Great Hall, the people and the
