I'm John Batchew with my colleague, Jonathan Shanzard, the executive director of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies.

Lebanon, Hezbollah. The ceasefire is clearly over with, and the Hezbollah is now engaged in some fashion in augmenting the Iranian resistance in the Gulf.

However, that consists of throwing a new kind of warhead, I'm told, a cluster

bomb warhead into Israel and intimidating not only the north, but all of Israel. The IDF has moved

into, well, it was already in Lebanon in decision points, but it's moved farther in and

that is said to be a demarcation between South Lebanon and North Lebanon. However, the airstrikes

now are directing again at South Beirut, which is where Hezbollah has its headquarters.

What is the war aim now, Jonathan, given that Hezbollah violated the ceasefire and that

Hezbollah clearly is trying to kill as many people as possible?

Well, John, I think it needs to be understood first that the ceasefire was constantly being violated.

The Israelis had attacked his volipositions more than 500 times since that ceasefire was announced back in late 24.

And so this was inevitable as far as I see it, right?

There was, it was only a matter of time before the Israelis

decided to end this. And what happened was is that the Hezbollah fired six rockets early on in

this conflict. And the Israelis essentially said, okay, this is the predicate. we're doing it. And so they started bombing heavily,

the neighborhood known as Dahlia in southern Beirut, and it is still under fire. It looks

quite a bit like Gaza right now with the amount of destruction that Hisbala has invited upon

itself. You have, I think, now the call-up of Israeli reservists.

I saw as many as 450,000 getting call-up notices yesterday, according to reports.

And they're going to start putting these soldiers on the ground.
