I'm John Batchel with my good colleague Elizabeth Peake. We go to Washington because I haven't got anything to say about Washington.

It seems excessively quiet.

The weather has been ordinary.

It was a rough winter in New England, but Washington has southern weather often.

And yet, Liz, I don't study the matter, but it occurs to me that given the number of wars now underway

and given the $104 oil and other tensions in the world and all the nose from Europe,

we're getting a very quiet Congress, not only the Republicans quiet, but the Democrats quiet.

Is something happened?

Well, first of all, I think that

the Iranian war, the public's view of this is not yet settled. Rasmussen, which is certainly a right-leaning

poll, but they came out with a poll saying 52% support Trump's decision to strike. And then more recently,

and maybe more consequently, 61% see the war as successful so far. And really, what have you seen

from Democrats, John? Every single one of them has been out there saying this war is a mistake.

It's going badly, the Trump

administration has no plan, et cetera, et cetera. And I got to tell you, I think that they're

making a mistake. I think if it turns out that the Iranian war ends up with a disarmed Iran

that is more able to coexist with its Gulf neighbors and with Israel.

And we have removed a nuclear threat from the Middle East. I think this will be a huge achievement for

President Trump. And the Democrats just reflexively denying that and opposing it, I think, are making a big mistake.

And I think maybe they've come to realize that.

Secondly, I think Democrats are under enormous pressure because of the shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security.

What really is riling the American public, and I got to say, I am furious about this on behalf of families traveling for spring break.
