Conversation with colleague Henry Sikolsky at the Non-Proliferation Policy Education Center

about the nuclear power plant in Iran, Dboucher, now evacuated by the Russian workmen there,

and the nuclear power plant, Demona, in Israel, either targeted or talked about being targeted and what is the risk?

Henry discusses a possibility of them being struck and perhaps striking them that did not lead to a catastrophe of radiological release.

In any event, both are targets to consider. Nuclear power plant everywhere

is targets to consider. Here's Henry to explain. More of this tonight. Well, I'd say both of

them are possibilities. In that, in the last war, it went without much notice. The Israeli

defense ministry had a spokesman say that they had targeted

or were planning to, I forget which, but Boucher. And then he had to come back and eat his word

to say, well, he misspoke. It was a way of at least threatening to do that, as way some people read it.

With regard to Demona, Iran has been explicit saying that if they feel like they're being taken down as a regime, they will go after it.

Now, in the case of Boucher, if you hit it, under some circumstances, I have contracted people at MIT to model, and the results are,

you have to evacuate hundreds of thousands. I mean, there's a large number of people live near

Boucher. The region is not going to go happily with that scenario. It won't

just be Iran that will be nervous. The neighbors will have to worry about radiological fallout if,

in fact, there is a radiological release. Now, there are ways of targeting Boucher where that

won't happen. In the case, the Domona, it's a smaller facility, it's deeper underground.

It may not produce as much radiological drama if it's hit in the worst way.

But there you have it.

I can't imagine the Israelis would take fondly to that being hit.
