writing most recently of a story that I touched on years ago and have lost track of until now.

The Egyptian government, under various presidents and legislatures, persecution of people who are deemed blasphemous.

And what does that mean in the 21st century?

Blasphemy is a charge that seems ancient now.

It's the sort of thing that was medieval in the European courts

and that is very rarely seen today in the 21st century in America.

Egypt has a very specific use of it, however.

What does blasphemy mean when someone is suspect of it or charged with it?

It's wonderful to be here talking about this story. Look, Egypt has a long

history of persecuting its minority communities of which is the Coptic Christian community, which is the

indigenous people of Egypt, who had converted to Christianity early in the days of Christian history.
