OpenAI as a non-profit research company backed by one million in funding from Elon Musk. Wow. So we need to introduce the

And although they had just put out a press release saying they raised a billion dollars, it started

extremely modestly in Greg Buckman's apartment where they didn't even have a whiteboard.

They were just sitting around, kicking around ideas.

Greg Buckman had to like wash the cups for the small handful of researchers because they didn't really have any idea what they were doing.

And they were trying to keep costs very, very low in the beginning.
