Summary

SHOWNOTES

In this episode Katie and MacKenzie discuss some of the hard things they have been facing lately and the strategies they have developed over the years to come through these times a little bit more easily. Whether the rug has been ripped out from under you or you just have been dealt a hard blow, these ideas will help make the hard just a little bit more manageable.

Practically:

Simplify, Simplify, Simplify

  • Meal Planning (meals you know & everyone loves, leftovers, easy)

  • Schedules

  • Planning in General (long-range vision can be difficult in survival mode- you might need to take it more one day at a time. MacKenzie is using Passion Planner Digital.)

  • “What can I do right now that will make a difference?” Sometimes that is doing the dishes, or paying bills, or putting out a load of laundry. Sometimes that is taking a nap, or calling a friend.

Solidarity & Support

  • Surround yourself with people who can be there for you emotionally and physically- all the people don’t need to do all the things, you just need to make sure that all the things are covered.

Self-care:

Sleep- my sleep is so bougie but it works! Here is what I do:

Supplements- take things to boost your immune system & help with stress (Vit C & D are key!)

Stretch- move your body even if it is in simple ways

In Your Head:

  • Self-talk- reign in any times you are talking yourself down.

  • Switching focus- compartmentalize thinking about the hard things and provide yourself distractions.

  • Selectivity- only allow in content that you can fully handle in this season.

  • Swearing 😬- sometimes it just helps.

midst of life's chaos. I'm so glad you're here. Today I have my good friend Katie Duckett on the show

0:32.9

and we are talking about how to get through when the rug gets ripped out from under you or when

0:38.7

hard things happen and you really have to grapple with those things and maybe even deal with a

0:43.8

little bit of survival mode or a lot of bit of survival mode and how to get through those things

0:49.7

well and not have it take you under forever I think that I have had a lot of practice. And recently,

0:56.9

just even in this last week, I've had a lot of things happen that have made life really difficult

1:01.8

again. And it can be really difficult to wade through those things and know how to get through

1:06.6

them. But I think that Katie and I have found a lot of helpful tips over the years that have

1:11.2

made them at least a little bit better during these times and what we cling to and how we

1:17.0

change our perspective. So this episode is filled with everything from the practical things to the

1:23.1

mindset kinds of things and the sleep things, the self-care things, kind of everything in between.

1:29.8

So I hope this is a beneficial episode to any of you who find yourself in those kinds of situations.

1:36.2

And if we're being honest, I think that we all do from time to time.

1:40.0

We all go through different things.

1:41.9

Yours might not be the same as mine, but we all face hard

1:45.3

situations where it can just be hard to want to get up in the morning. And these are the things

1:50.5

that we have learned to help those days be a little bit better, those days, those weeks,
