A tragedy of these many years, 15 years at least.

Syria, the promise of Syria, rebuilding, bringing the refugees back. Syria,

now commanded by a self-identified, self-elected president named Al-Shaara, a young man who has

been traveling the Middle East and Europe and the world in order to encourage investment in his country. However,

there is a burden on Syria that's unlike any other. State sponsor of terror, a designation

from the U.S. Congress once upon a time. That prevents any normal development or conversation

with Syria until that is lifted.

The many sanctions directed against Syria since the Civil War started in 2010, 2011.

Many of them have been lifted or taken a pause, but not state sponsor of terror,

which is why we have a photograph of the President of the United States, Mr. Trump, at the anchor at Turkey NATO meeting, sitting next to a slim young man, Al-Sharra, the President of Syria.

That conversation includes what is to be done about the state-sponsor terrorism label, since it is not Mr. Trump's to lift. It's Congress. I welcome someone who has helped me understand Syria as it either repairs
