Both parties manage their recruiting, their fundraising, and their candidate choice in similar fashion.

Now and again, however, you meet a crisis, and how do you manage that crisis?

Yes, you can boast about how much money you've raised, you can boast about your wonderful issues that you've identified in polling.

But what about the candidate? Two recent examples for the Democratic Party illustrate to me that

there is a recovery from a crisis, but it's a tough road and you need to be disciplined. That is, MacArthur, American Greatness, is a veteran politician from the great state of Michigan,

a veteran politician who observes other politicians and other candidates,

and how they get in and out of difficulties.

I begin with California, most recently, in the gubernatorial race to replace Mr. Newsom,

who has termed out.

The choice clearly early on, and for quite some time, right up to a huge fundraiser

that was about to happen the next night was a young congressman named

Sewell, I believe, Swalwell.
