Immigration, a dominant story in Europe not solved by the EU,

by the various countries participating in the EU, especially by Britain,

can the Labour Party so overwhelmingly dominant in the Parliament solve immigration?

It would appear a struggle.

Joseph Sternberg of the Wall Street Journal, my colleague, outlines what labor faces, no matter who the prime minister is, and they're about to change again. More tonight. Well, I think that definitely at the top-level politicians like Kirstarmer or the Home Secretary Shephanemam, Mahmood, probably understand that you do need to have some kind of settlement on this issue just as a matter of labor's political survival.

But I think that there's a large activist class and then also a far-left progressive flank

within labor that would find it ideologically offensive to start deporting people or to crack down on asylum applications

or the rest of it.

So Labor finds itself internally divided in that way, and that makes it very difficult for

them to try to solve the problem too.
