Dear Pints with Jack listeners, thank you for downloading this episode of Pints with Jack,

the podcast where we discuss the work of C.S. Lewis.

This season, we're reading some of Lewis's

letters, which been brought together in several different collections. In season seven, we'll read

his correspondence with Mary Willis Shelburne found in letters to an American lady, as well as his

letters to children, and its exchange of Latin letters with St. Giovanni Calabria.

And in an effort to wrap up this book before the new year, we're going to be covering a three-year period today,

looking at the letters between 1956 and 1958.

This episode is entitled The Other American Lady, who's referred to in the opening quotation,

Joy Davidman.

And so, needless to say, during today's episode, we're going to be talking a lot about love

and suffering.
