Welcome everyone. Here on Pites with Jack, we're reading our way to the works of C.S. Lewis, but today we're

having one of our themed months. Lewis regarded George McDowld as his master and was constantly

encouraging his friends and correspondence to read him. We did a one-off episode last season with

Dr. Kirsten-Jeffrey Johnson, but today is the long-promised and long-overdue

MacDonald's month. And we're going to start this series by looking at his life with the help of

Joyce McPherson. Joyce McPherson teaches English at Covenant College and has written

biographies for young people, including biographies of Blaise Pascal, Isaac Newton,

Ulbara, C.S. Lewis, Johann Sebastian Bach, and George MacDonald. She is the author of some

light fantasy for children, as well as abridged Shakespeare plays for youth theatre. She is a mother

of nine children. In her spare time, she enjoys reading history and directing

Shakespeare plays. And rather crucially, for this month, she is the author of Spiritual Site,

The Story of George MacDonald. Joyce, welcome to Pines for Jack. I'm glad to join you. I've listened
