Hey everyone. Welcome back to Seeking Witchcraft. I'm your host, Ashley, and today I have on a return special guest, Catherine, owner of Quadrubium Supplies, a handmade ritual oil website. You may recognize her from the ritual oil episode that we did. Hello. Hello. But today's Catherine is going to talk to us about candle magic. So, Catherine, thanks so much for going back on again. Could you introduce yourself to listeners who may not be familiar with you? Sure. My name is Catherine, and I live in Chicago. I have been practicing witchcraft and ritual magic for about 35 years. 12 years ago, I decided to open a ritual oil company and I opened quidivium

supplies, which is at ritualoils.net. And that's what I do. But because ritual oils are often

0:47.1

used with candles, I also know a fair amount about candles, which is why I'm here today.

0:52.5

Awesome. You know, before we started this episode when Catherine and I were talking, we were going

0:58.7

through what we wanted to discuss about candles and candle magic.

1:01.9

And this topic came up of not realizing the things that as practitioners, we forgot we

1:08.9

had to learn.

1:10.5

And candles absolutely fall into this

1:13.1

category. Oh, absolutely. Especially with issues. The biggest one for me was size, you know,

1:20.8

of the candle. Because different candles are called the same thing, like a two inch freestanding

1:26.4

candle, votive, four inch candle fixed inestanding candle, votive, four-inch candle fixed in a glass

1:29.4

holder, votive, seven-inch candle poured into a tall glass, votive, six-inch freestanding kettle,

1:35.5

votive, it, you know, it all depends on who's making them and who's selling them and where you're

1:39.5

buying them, and it is so confusing. I used to, you know, I would have a book that said something about, you know, get a votive candle.

1:48.0

And I'd be at the store and I'm like, well, they're all votives.

1:50.7

How do I pick one?

1:53.1

Yeah, I think it also depends too.

1:54.9

The person that you're speaking to, a votive to them might not be a votive to you.

1:58.7

That is why I really recommend looking for candles by size, not by name, because I know

2:06.3

people talk about seven-day candles and ten-day candles and, you know, all that sort of thing.

2:10.7

I really recommend for the candle that you're buying for ritual purposes, look for it by size, not by anything else.

2:24.0

Go and check the boxes and see, you know, do they say they're two inch, six inch, whatever.
