last week in episode 602 we were the first hour of the interrogation that later led to

Sandy Melgar's arrest, albeit 19 months after that interrogation took place. From

that point forward Detective Ruben Corazal began building a case against Sandy

Melgar, then in the summer of 2014 he was eventually indicted by a grand jury. From

that point forward three years went by before prosecuting attorney Kotlin Barnex

took Sandra Melgar to trial. After just hearing a brief overview as we have in

the first two episodes of Sandy's story and how the police interrogation went,

unsure most of you just like me have been wondering how did a prosecutor build a

case against Sandy and more to the point how did they manage to get a conviction.

There's no better source to tell that story and explain the case against Sandy Melgar,

then the prosecutor who tried and convicted her. Ladies and gentlemen,

please welcome to the show Harris County ADA Colleen Barnex.

We have joined with us on the phone today all the way from Houston, Texas, Miss Colleen

Barnex who tried Sandra Melgar last year and won the conviction. So first of all I want

to thank you very much Colleen for coming on the show with us as I know it's a busy

schedule and we appreciate you taking the time out of it to speak with us.

So let's go ahead and get started with I'll let you can introduce yourself and who you are,

what you do and what your background is a little bit before we get into the case.
