The Pilgrims Retrospective.

Good morning, everyone. It's David here. And today's quotation comes from the signature on my

personal email account and also from the Deuterocanonical book of Second Macbys. I just thought

I'd share. Welcome to the final episode of our little interregnum between seasons five and six.

By this point in time, you've probably heard that I was invited to address the Oxford

CS Lewis Society this past October when I was back in England with my family. We were only going to be in Oxford for a little over two days.

I wanted to finally take that stroll around Addison's walk and also take Marie and

Alexander to visit Lewis's home.

Once we had the itinerary planned, I sent some emails to people in Oxford whom we've previously

had on the show, letting them know that we'd be in town and inviting them out for a pint.

Dr Michael Ward replied to my email saying that there was actually going to be a meeting of the

Oxford CSO Society on one of those nights when I'd be in town,

and he invited me to attend.

Then a little while later, another email arrived saying that the currently scheduled speaker,

Dr. Stephen Beebe, also a former guest of the show,

he was speaker that night and was offering to postpone his own talk so that I could address the society while we were in town.

This was delightful, humbling, kind of terrifying.

And so what you're about to hear is the speech which I wrote on our way to England and ultimately to Oxford, which I gave to the society that night.
