Well, good morning, everyone, wherever you are. It's actually good afternoon for me on the hottest day in the year in England.

Pints with Jack is your weekly C.S. Lewis podcast, where I, Matt, and David, break down and discuss the works

of C.S. Lewis. We're currently in Poetry Month this August. We began with the Reverend Dr. Malcolm

Geite talking about poetry in general. Then David interviewed Dr. Don W. King, giving an

overview of Lewis's poetic corpus. And then he also interviewed Karen Swallow Pryor about Lewis's

first published work spirits in bondage. Dr. Pryor recently did an updated version of that.

And today we're going to look at Lewis's second major book of poetry,

Daimer.

And guiding us through that work is Dr. Jerry Root.

Dr. Root is a graduate of Whittier College

and Talbot Graduate School of Theology

at Biola University, both located in Southern California.

He received his PhD from the Open University

through the Oxford Center for Mission Studies.

He and his wife Claudia have four grown children,

all of whom are married and 15 grandchildren.

His quiver is full.

Dr. Rood has written many articles about Lewis,

lectured on him at 78 universities in 18 different

countries, and is a popular speaker at Lewis conferences around the world. He's compelling.
