At this point in our re-investigation of the murders of Stevie Michael and Christopher,

many of you may have noticed that we have come to a crossroads.

At this point, we have been gathering and analyzing existing evidence.

We've just recently made our shift into hypothesis development.

This is where the track of my investigation and the track of the West Memphis Police

Department's investigation headed in two different directions.

If this were my case to investigate, at this point I would investigate everyone close

to the boys, family members, particularly the men in their lives.

Then I would work in concentric circles outward from there.

In the West Memphis PD, on the other hand, jump from the half-hearted effort

adored or canvassing to aiming the focus of their investigation into satanic cult ritual

killings.

Ignoring the family members to the extent that two of the father figures were never

even interviewed.

If I were in charge of leading this investigation back in 1993, we would never go in the direction

that we are about to.

But given the circumstances and the history of the case, there's just no way that I can

move forward past this point without traveling down the path that the police originally took.

It's for that reason that we will be spending several weeks analyzing and assessing the

West Memphis Police Department and the Crippenden County DA's Office investigation, arrest, trial,

and conviction of three teenagers in connection with these murders.

But before we get there, we have a few more things that we need to cover to lay a foundation.
