It was a few weeks before the final major, and the inevitable had just happened.

I just carted a sad looking 84, which had finally sealed it for the year.

There was no mathematic way to get to scratch.

Which wasn't really a surprise.

I wasn't playing well enough over the last few months to really even scare it.

But each season at the point where it becomes mathematically impossible, I still feel the

reality set in.

Another year, another failure.

I called Eli from the car on the way home, and I decided to present to him an idea that

I had been thinking about the last few weeks.

An idea that I had named the relegation clause.

The idea was that next season, season 6, we'd borrow a concept from the Premier League and

install the principle of relegation.

In their case, that's where the bottom three teams each year are demoted to a lower division.

But in our case, the overall goal of the show would not change, it would be scratch 0.0.

But we would assign a minimum index, both of us would need to achieve next season.

And I told Eli my vote was, either we both get under a two handicap, or were relegated.

Relegated from what, Eli said?

Podcasting, I said.

It was silent for a few seconds, and then Eli said, okay, I think I love this.

So let's not say anything else until we're on the mics after the final major.
