Hey, everyone. Today we are going to dive a little deeper into the passage we annotated yesterday,

Genesis 50-20. Yeah, Alexa, can you tell us a little bit about where this passage fits in the story of

scripture? Yeah, so if you remember last week, we talked about one of Jacob's sons,

Judah, and how a future ruler would come from his line. We looked at Genesis 49, which contains

that promise that Jacob makes before his death. And there was something else happening around

this time that impacted that promise, and it has to do with another one of Jacob's son, Joseph.

Beth talked a little bit about this last week, but to try and make a long story short,

back in Genesis 37, we see that Joseph's brothers were jealous of him because of Jacob's love

for him. So they sold Joseph into slavery and made up a story that Joseph was dead.

But God was with Joseph, and he worked through his circumstances to eventually make it possible for Joseph to serve

under the Pharaoh in Egypt and to give Joseph control over Egypt. Yeah, that is a very nice and good

summary of a very long story. Very impressed. So how does this story specifically impact

Judah, the brother that we talked about last week? Well, a famine comes into the land during this time

and threatens Jacob and his sons. And if Jacob and his sons, specifically Judah, die from this
