Welcome to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace.

0:03.0

This year, we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ and all of Scripture.

0:09.0

Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the New,

0:15.0

seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.

Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are

0:21.7

hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present

0:26.6

throughout the entire biblical story, but the center of it. Hey everyone, welcome back to a year in the

Hi, friends. Today we are closing out our week of studying Zechariah 9-9 and John 12 through 16 by discussing how we might apply what we have learned this week. So Beth, can you share how you plan

0:48.5

to apply these passages? For sure. So there are two main application points that I plan to take away

0:53.1

1:06.6

he humbly lived, and he even had humble relationships. And I personally am not naturally humble.

1:12.5

If I had to pick which of the seven deadly sins I embody the most, it would probably be pride.

1:17.7

So I really need to rely on Christ and his work on my heart if I want to follow him in humility.

1:23.5

I think one way that I can do this practically is through service.

1:26.2

I was thinking about all the little things that need to get done that people don't tend to want to do. So at home, this looks like picking up my kids' toys or cleaning my bathroom. At work, it is washing the dishes or wiping down the countertops. At church, it's standing out in the Texas seat and greeting newcomers. And these are all jobs that people aren't usually rushing to go do.

1:45.0

But I can volunteer and do those things as a means of humble service. And through doing that,

1:50.1

I can hope that my heart and pride might be softened little by little. The second application

1:55.2

takeaway is to not underestimate God's plans. Like the Israelites, I tend to think that I know

2:00.1

what God is doing in many
