0:33.5	week of a year in the Bible. We are so excited to spend another week studying scripture with you all.
0:38.3	My name is Beth, and I'm here with my co-host, Alexa.
0:41.5	Friends, this week we are looking at Joel 2, 28 through 29 and Acts 2 32 through 33,
0:47.6	and we're going to see God's promise to pour his spirit out on his people and how Jesus made a way for that promise to be fulfilled on the day of
0:55.1	Pentecost. Yeah, I'm super excited to talk through these passages with y'all. We're going to start off
0:59.9	by discussing the annotations of Joel 2, 28 through 29 today. So, Alexa, can you read that passage for us?
1:06.9	Yes. After this, I will pour out my spira on all humanity. Then your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will have dreams and your young men will see visions. I will even pour out my spirit on the male and female slaves in those days. So, Beth, how did you annotate this passage? Yeah, I really enjoyed today's annotations. I particularly liked the third prompt which asked us to underline the different groups of
1:31.3	people mentioned in the passage.
1:33.3	And so I underlined the phrase all humanity, my underlined sons, daughters, old men, young
1:38.8	men, and male and female slaves.
1:41.1	It was really cool to see how the passage begins with God saying that he will pour his spirit out on all humanity, and then he goes on to highlight all the different people
1:48.7	groups so that the people could see that he really did actually mean all humanity. And this was an
1:54.2	ancient culture where women, slaves, and people who were too old or too young probably wouldn't be
1:58.9	treated with great dignity. And so it was possible
2:02.3	that someone could have heard this prophecy and thought that it was only for the strong and mature men.
