0:31.3	Hey everyone, welcome back to Year in the Bible. My name is Alexa, and I'm here with my co-hosts
0:35.9	for the week, Katie. Hello, hello. Today we're going to be making the Christ's connection between Isaiah 5 1 through 7
0:41.9	and John 15 1 through 5. So Katie, will you start our conversation off on that connection?
0:48.2	Absolutely. I've been looking forward to this all week. If we were to just, you know,
0:52.3	end our week by studying Isaiah 5, 1 through 7, we would
0:55.7	see the real consequences of sin, right? We would know God for his perfect care and his justice,
1:02.3	justice that Israel rightly deserved. The Vineyard Song in Isaiah 5 is a parable of Israel's
1:08.5	rebellion against God. Even when God called Israel out of slavery and toward the promised land,
1:14.1	Israel lamented life in the wilderness and wished for the meat of Egypt,
1:17.5	rather than the food that God provided.
1:19.7	And when they moved into the promised land,
1:21.5	Israel was continuously distracted by foreign nations and idolatry.
1:26.0	No matter the judge, the leader, the king, Israel could not
1:29.4	worship God wholeheartedly. And so God gave Israel everything they needed for success, but even
1:35.8	still the vineyard. Israel produced sour grapes. And this is the background of Isaiah 5,
