0:39.7	to be going deeper into the passage that we annotated and talked about yesterday, Judges 2, 10, through
0:44.8	19. So to start us off, Alexa, can you share with us where this passage fits in the biblical story?
0:51.4	Yes. So last week we discussed a passage in Joshua and talked about how the second
0:56.5	generation of the Israelites were brought into the promised land by Joshua. By God's power,
1:02.1	they defeated their enemies in the land and they settled into their new home. But we see in the
1:07.7	beginning of judges that the Israelites didn't drive out all the enemies that God committed them to drive out.
1:12.8	So this meant that they had to live among the people God told them to get rid of, exposing them to the idol worship of those nations.
1:19.9	In the beginning of Judges 2, 10 through 19, we see that we are now focusing on a third generation of the Israelites.
1:26.6	So the second generation has now passed and the third generation are living in Canaan.
1:31.5	Joshua has now passed as well.
1:33.2	So Israel doesn't have someone leading them and encouraging them to follow the Lord.
1:37.3	We also see in Judges 210 that this generation did not know the Lord or the works that he had done for Israel.
