Welcome to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace.

This year, we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ and all of Scripture.

in the Bible. I'm Alexa, and I'm here with my cohost, Beth. Hi, friends. It's Friday. So we will be

wrapping up this week of Bible study today by talking about how we plan to apply what we learned

this week through Deuteronomy 6, 4 through 5 and Matthew 22, 37 through 40. So, Beth, why don't

you start us off? Yeah, he really loved the question this study encourages us to ask herself on page 64.

It tells us to ask, what is taking first place in my heart?

What am I looking to and depending on besides God?

Talk about convicting.

There are so many things that I allow to take first place in my heart over God.

The one that comes to mind as I was doing this study is other people's opinions of me.

I often want to be liked. I want to be thought of as cool or smart. And these desires often have

so much potential to lead me away from loving God with my whole self and obeying him.

So while it is good to recognize that Christ loved God perfectly and that his fulfillment of this command covers

my inability to fulfill it, I also want to remember that Christ has given me his spirit to strengthen me

and encourage me to do better in my pursuit of loving God with my all. And not because I have to,

but because following God's commandments is actually good for me. And it is what God rightfully
