Welcome to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace.

This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ and all of Scripture.

Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the New,

seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.

that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present

throughout the entire biblical story, but the center of it. Hi, everyone. Welcome back to another

week of a year in the Bible. We are so excited to dive into another week of seeing

Christ in Scripture. My name is Beth, and I am here today with my co-host Alexa.

Hey, friends, today we'll be discussing the annotation day on Deuteronomy 6, 4 through 5.

That says, listen, Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord lord is one love the lord your god with all your

heart with all your soul and with all your strength so beth would you tell us how you annotated this

passage yeah so this is a really short and really familiar passage so i thought it was really good

to actually sit down and really dwell on how much this short

verse has to show us this week.

So I think it's especially helpful to think about how this passage points to Christ.

It can often be really confusing to read about God in the Old Testament, especially

verses like this that show us that God is one God and then be introduced to Jesus in the New Testament and be told that he is also God.

So next to the word one in verse four, I wrote down these quotes that I remembered from the New Testament that Jesus says, where he says in John 1030, I and the Father are one.

And then another one in John 14, 9, where he says,

whoever has seen me has seen the father. So these passages really help me make sense of this

phenomenon that God is indeed the one true God, but that he has revealed himself through Jesus,
