Hey guys I'm about to bring you my conversation with Bill Crystal about how swing voters are thinking about the choice between Trump and Biden on foreign policy.

Now, we take this show before Iran launched its attack on Israel on April 13th and 14th.

And so while it deals with foreign policy,

it actually focuses more on NATO and America's role

in the post-Cold War era, so more Russia, Ukraine, rather than the Middle East.

This show still totally holds up,

but just wanted to get that caveat at the top.

with Bill Crystal. Hello everyone and welcome to the Focus Group Podcast. I'm Sarah Longwell, publisher of bulwark and this week we're talking about

foreign policy but don't turn it off don't say oh no I want to skip anything

foreign policy related because one unique feature of this

Biden Trump election is the voters have gotten to see both candidates

operate as president including representing America on the world stage and

for whoever wins this election the conflicts in Ukraine and in the Middle East

will be defining parts of the next four years. So we wanted to see how swing

voters are grappling with Joe Biden's and Donald Trump's records on foreign policy.

Obviously, Biden fumbled our withdrawal from Afghanistan, but unlike Trump, he's never had a kind word to say about Vladimir Putin.

So we're going to explore that tension a little further today.
