Summary

"How should we understand the language of election and predestination in Ephesians 1 and what was Paul’s purpose in emphasizing it to the Ephesian believers? How does Ephesians 2:8-10 balance God’s work and our good works, and why is that balance so central to Paul’s message? In today's episode, Director of Equipping, Chris Sherrod, and Watermark member Robin Clark talk about Ephesians 1-4. Robin provides us with the context of the book of Ephesians and tackles the language around predestination, helping us understand the different positions on this theological topic. Tell us a little bit about your story, how you came to know Jesus, and then even how you came to Watermark.

I would love to.

So I was born in Dallas, grew up here going to church and Christian school. So I was in church twice a week and Christian school five days a week. And there has never not been a moment of my life where Jesus hasn't been at the core of it. But at eight, age eight, that's when I came to understand in my own

personal faith that I did in fact believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins once for all.

And I accepted him then as my savior, continued on a very lovely path. Being a Christian was very

easy for me in adolescence. And then entering college and adulthood,

1:13.2

it became less easy. And about 15 years ago, after a good amount of spiritual struggle,

1:22.5

I walked into Watermark and God used the ministries in this church to turn my life upside down. My life

1:30.6

today looks nothing like it did 15 years ago, but I'm just delighted for what the Lord has done in my

life. I went through a significant time of desperation, losing everything of this world, and

1:43.0

where he's brought me today is just so much greater than

1:45.8

anything that I could have imagined. I have certainly walked that walk of one foot in, one foot out,

1:51.4

and I can say with confidence, the joy and the Lord is just everything. It's just everything.
