question what does it look like to lead with faith when everyone around you is panicking a few years years ago, I was on a flight headed home from

a conference. It was one of those long days of travel, you know, where all you want to do is get on

the plane and sleep. The seatbelt sign was off. People were chatting. Flight attendants were rolling

carts down the aisle. And then out of nowhere, it felt like the plane just dropped.

Drinks flew, drawers flew out of the rolling carts.

Somebody screamed.

You could feel this jolt of panic spread through the cabin like electricity.

And I glanced around.

I saw white eyes and white knuckles gripping the armrests.

But then I looked at the flight

attendants. They didn't freak out. One of them just braced herself, calmly took the cart back,

and smiled at a nervous passenger. And I'll never forget how her calm, the flight

attendant's calm, changed the atmosphere. The storm or the turbulence didn't stop, but her steadiness helped

everyone else breathe again. That's what good leadership looks like in a storm, not pretending

you're not scared or ignoring the chaos, but choosing to stay grounded in what's true when everyone

else is spiraling. The flight attendants had clearly experienced turbulence like

this a time or two. And they knew we'd be okay. So they were calm. They rested in what they knew to be

true. And that's exactly what Paul does in Acts 27. The ship is breaking apart, the crew's panicking,

and yet Paul stands up, not because he has control, but because he has confidence in the God who does.

But if we don't learn to lead with faith and moments of panic, we'll be swept up in the same fear that's steering everyone else.
