Summary

Our world is so confused about what it means to be human—and even more confused about what it means to be male and female. The extreme responses to this confusion include denying sexual difference on the one hand, as if men and women are interchangeable—or overemphasizing it, as if men and women are practically different species. But the reality of our God-given humanity, including our distinctly male and female bodies, is so much bigger and better than these false extremes. This week, Dr. Abigail Favale joins us to talk all things biblical sexuality, gender, the goodness of our bodies, and the beautiful interdependence that God designed us for. Tune in and be encouraged at how God loves men and women and has designed them to reflect Him together.

conversation with Abigail. I just finished her book, The Genesis of Gender, and I just think you guys are

0:47.7

going to be so blessed by the wisdom and insight and really the big picture of design that Abigail's been able to articulate.

0:56.3

I know I have. I've reread her last chapter like three times.

0:59.4

I'm going to try to narrow down the questions to summarize some of this design that she

1:06.5

dives into in the book. But Abigail has such a fascinating story. She started off. I'm not going to get

1:13.5

too much into it in this introduction because she's going to tell it. But the interesting part is that

1:18.0

she was really into the gender theory, like all into the feminist movement, gender theory

1:24.5

when God got a hold of her and said, oh, let me invite you into the

flourishing sort of way. And now she's all into God's design and helping communicate that to

others. She and her husband live in South Bend, Indiana, and they have four children. So Abigail,

I am so glad you're with me. I'm happy to be here. Okay, well, before we

1:46.8

jump into this conversation about design, which I cannot wait to talk to you about, I want to hear

1:51.6

about you. What fills your days these days, Abigail? I feel like my days are a relay race where I'm

constantly dropping the baton. And the batons are often my children.

Well, my husband and I were just starting a two working parents situation for the first times in our marriage since having children.

So it's a totally new kind of rhythm. And so
