I'm your host, Dr. Garrett Dirkmont, and I'm joined by my friend, Professor Richard Leduke.

Hello, Garrett. In this week's podcast, we're going to continue our discussion of harmony and the events

that took place there.

I believe when we last left, we spoke about doctrine covenant section three, the stolen 116 pages,

and a little bit more about the relationship with Joseph and Emma.

So we're now into 1829 then.

So Joseph has the loss of the pages.

And remember the plates are taken from him.

And then the angel brings them back.

Now, according to Joseph Smith history,

even though he gets the plates back,

he doesn't really do any translating after he gets them back. He says that he's basically required to go to labor for his family

on the farm. So he's working the small farm that he has with Emma down there trying to make ends

meat. And so there's not a whole lot of translating that appears to be going on during that time period.

Now, even though there's been a pretty massive setback, I mean, there is a there's a

hangover, you know, from not from the hard cider and ale that is frequently drunk by by Americans at the time but from

the fact that so much of the work is gone I mean I can only imagine you know Joseph
