Welcome to a year in the Bible with daily grace. My name is Kristen and my name is Katie and we want to spend a few minutes a day with you walking through the New Testament one chapter at a time.

This year we will fix our gaze upon Christ so that we may know

him, not only with our minds but with our hearts. Together we will learn that

who Jesus is changes everything.

Welcome back to a year in the Bible with daily grace. My name is Kristen Schmucker.

Together we are journeying through the New Testament in a year and right now we are in the book of Romans which is just one of my favorites and we're starting one of my favorite chapters today which is Romans chapter 5.

We start today's chapter with a beautiful and short synopsis of the first four

chapters of Romans. Paul begins with these words. Therefore, since you are

justified by faith, we are made right with God by faith in Jesus.

That's the summary of the first four chapters and the foundation we will build upon and continuously remember as we

study Romans.

Chapter 5 can be split into two parts.

In the first we will study the benefits of justification by faith and second we will study the one who makes this justification possible.

The one who represents us and this is Jesus.

V verses 1 through 11 study the benefits of justification

by faith in Christ.

Here, Paul uses the word we repeatedly.

He is describing the reality of those who profess faith in Jesus, who are adopted

into the family of God. First, we have peace with God. When you think of peace, what comes to mind? Maybe an absence of conflict, a truce between

warring countries. Maybe it's a quiet morning sipping a cup of coffee when no one else is awake in your house.

Peace stands out and is so desired because it is quite contrary to the world that we know, conflict abounds, news headlines pit people against each other.

We witness arguments between kids or roommates in our own households, we long for peace. Hold peace in your head
