Welcome back to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is Kristen Schmucker and we are in Luke 19 today.

As a reminder I'm using the Behold Studies from the Daily Grace Co, as well as the free reading plan and you can find all the information about those in the show notes.

We have talked a lot about tax collectors in the past few chapters and today we are introduced to Zakius who is the chief tax collector.

From what we know about tax collectors, we can surmise that he had likely not gotten this

position due to his integrity.

And yet, we are introduced to Zakius and he wants to see Jesus.

He wanted so badly to behold Jesus that he was willing to climb up a tree

and act very undignified for a man in his position. But as much as that Kia's wanted Jesus, Jesus wanted him more. Jesus called him by name.

And then Jesus told him that he would come to his home that day.

We shouldn't be too surprised at the crowds complain because Jesus again having a meal

with a sinner

that he has repented and paid back those he had wronged and the reminder that rang

from Jesus's lips was that he had wronged, and the reminder that rang from Jesus's lips was that he had come to save the lost.

The next parable that Jesus tells is the parable of the 10-minas.

Interestingly, many scholars have noticed that these events are similar to the leader

Arcalaeus, who would have been well known at the time, but above all this is a display of

Jesus' kingship.
