We have been in the Gospel of John, and today we are taking a look at John 20.

We left off yesterday on a somber note.

Jesus submitted himself to extreme brutality and a criminal's

death on the cross. And a man named Joseph took Jesus' body from the cross and buried it with the

help of Nicodemus. Today we read John's account of Jesus's

resurrection. In a lot of ways it's the day we have been waiting for for a while. In fact, we have been mentioning John 20 since the been found in this chapter in verse 31. But these are written so that you may believe

that Jesus is the Messiah, the son of God and that by believing you may have life

in his name. Just as this verse has underscored the entirety of his gospel, John's

desire for his readers is to believe in Jesus as the son of God and the Messiah.

Jesus proves to his disciples and his followers and to us that he truly is the Messiah God
