Here we are reading through the entire New Testament together, taking it one chapter a day. Today we are in the Gospel of John reading

John 14. As always we are reading from the behold study from the Daily Grace

I want to set us up well here for this chapter.

If you remember yesterday, Jesus is having an intimate conversation with the disciples, the last

conversation he will have with them before his crucifixion.

Imagine your last conversation with those you love most. What would you tell them? What would your tone be?

Likely you would want them to remember your love for them. There would be hugs,

tears, joy, sorrow. This is the tone of John 14.

Jesus encourages the disciples with his love.

He assures them with his presence and reminds them of one central truth,

that he is one with God.

In John 13, John told his disciples that he was going to a place where they could not come,

at least right now. He must go alone. And John 14 tells us exactly

where Jesus is going and what he will be doing there. Jesus is ascending into
